It's an exciting time to be an author, especially an author who has a backlist which can now be converted to ebooks! With the explosion of e-readers like the Kindle and Nook, there is a whole new world of readers out there waiting to discover you. So let's get started!

I offer ebook cover design as well as ebook formatting. Need just a cover design? Perfect! Need ebook formatting in addition to a cover? Great! Please see below for cover examples and pricing guidelines.

The two covers below are examples of stand-alone, uniquely designed covers.

Option One:
With author provided art. (requires approval by designer)
$150 plus stock art charges. (If author hasn't purchased on their own.)

(Choosing Option One means the author participates in the image search on royalty-free stock photo web sites such as bigstockphoto.com or shutterstock.com. A typical charge for a lo-res image is $10-20, hi-res $15-30.)

** When would you want hi-res stock art? If you ever plan to use this cover in print (POD book). If this may be an option for you, let's talk.

Option Two:
With designer provided art. (Designer searches for images.)
$225 plus stock art charges.

The four covers below are examples of series ebook covers. This type of cover starts with one stand-alone cover (see above) and then continues with one or more covers in a very similiar format.

EACH additional series cover:

Option One:

$100 plus stock art charges. (If author hasn't purchased on their own.)

Option Two:
With designer provided art. (Designer searches for images.)
$175 plus stock art charges.

The two covers below include original photos shot by the author. Depending on the quality of the photo, this may be a viable alternative to purchasing stock images. (If your photo is lo-res, more work may be needed to make it usable.)

Cost of initial stand-alone cover:
With ONE non-character photo supplied by author, no Photoshop work necessary.
$100 (photo requires approval by designer)

EACH additional series cover:

With ONE non-character photo supplied by author, no Photoshop work necessary.
$75 (photo requires approval by designer)

If you also need formatting for your ebook, below are the services I provide.

** Please note: eBook formatting services are offered ONLY when I am designing the book cover as well. Stand-alone ebook formatting is not offered.

If you don't already have your backlist book in electronic format, it needs to be scanned to create an electronic format. I use an outside scanning company and the price range is $25 to $50 per book. You are also free to work with my scanning company on your own (and send the electronic files to me via email) or work with another scanning company.

Once you have an electronic format of your book in hand (or rather, in your computer), it is your responsibility to proof the text. You'll need to correct the few errors and typos which will almost always occur during the scanning process. (Sometimes, the scanner will "read" an "I" as a number one, for example.)

Once you have a clean, proofed electronic file, you email it to me for conversion to an ebook. I create an html file (which contains your ebook content) and forward that to you. Your next step is to create an account at Amazon's Kindle Publishing web site and Barnes and Noble's Nook Publishing web site and to upload both the ebook file AND the cover image file to publish your ebook on the Kindle and the Nook.

Another type of file you'll need:
To publish your ebook to other ebook retailers such as Apple's iBookstore, the Sony Reader Store, and Smashwords, I use the Smashwords formatting guidelines. That requires a different type of file than for the Kindle and Nook. I create this file for you, and your next step is to create an account at Smashwords and upload.
